Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories are of discovering an instrument hidden in her attic then becoming enthralled by the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music not to get an income or as a pastime however, as a chance to improve. For this reason she started writing her own songs that were her own creations. As well as Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. To counter her mother's advice that people ought not to aim at achieving fame through her songwriting, but instead realize the importance of themselves and the impact they have on society. The mother of her child suggested that she perform her songs publicly in order to make people aware of their own importance and how they can affect the world. It was not until she turned 14 that she told her parents. Aurora did not have a set goal. According to her, she just enjoys writing songs. She claims that music is her favorite way of feeling something.
